"The Closer"

...ist eine Adaption des gleichnamigen Theaterstückes von Patrick Marber und befasst sich mit den unterschiedlichsten Aspekten zwischenmenschlicher Beziehungen und den miteinander verknüpften Schicksalen vierer ganz spezieller Menschen im verregneten London. Es ist ein Film der tiefgründigen, frivolen, aber auch durchaus komischen Dialoge. Schamlos, schonungslos und intensiv handelt er von Liebe und Eifersucht, Verrat, Misstrauen und der egoistischen Lustbefriedigung (Sex und Macht) in der heutigen Zeit. Der Regisseur Mike Nichols ("Die Reifeprüfung") hat 2004 mit diesem Film einen Klassiker geschaffen.
Der Film beginnt mit einem Song von Damien Rice:"The Blower's Daughter", der die Stimmung des ganzen Filmes sehr gut wiederspiegelt. Ich habe eine Version von "Scala & Kolacny Brothers" entdeckt, die mindestens ebenso schön ist...
"And so it is...just like you said it would be...life goes easy on me...most of the time...and so it is...the shorter story... no love, no glory...no hero in her sky...I can't take my eyes off you..."
